Macy vs. Fields, Round II... Fight!

Today marks the one year anniversary of the day Macy's sacked Marshall Field's in downtown Chicago. And just as Field's fans protested that fateful day, they still fight on. Talk about brand loyalty.

Teheehee. I am actually responsible for that building's brand change over. Quite literally, Me and two other designers did the recommendation design work, and our company designed and managed it. Because of those Field's fans, including the Mayor, it took almost a year to cut through the red tape. I'm not sure if I feel bad or not. But, it is very unsettling to see something my design hands created cause so much controversy. No?

Good work. JT and I don't mind that it's a Macy's one bit. After watching a documentary of Chicago, it was clearly stated that Marshall Field himself was pretty much a dirty, racist, sneaky man. Plus, Macy's developed a darn good way finding system for getting around in there. No more getting lost!

I agree, it isn't a bad change at all to me. But I think the thought that Macy's is from NY, taking over an old Chicago name.. doesn't sit well with the local folk.

NY, ughh.

JT, FYI, Macy's only has a flagship store in NY. They are actually from Cincinnati (gag) believe it or not. We are currently rebranding their head office there. And I gag because I had to travel there and geez what a ghetto city, at least the parts I saw.
