Wicker Park had their Renegade Craft Fair a few weeks ago, which was overrun by the usual owl perephenalia (what's with the trend?) and muddy show silkscreen posters, but in the crowd of all of this I found one tent to be a relief. Simply Wood Rings are exactly that. Each hand-carved piece was a beautiful study in detail, and the maker had a great appreciation for the history of the woods used. I know it has been done before, but they were really something to see. Each ring became a little monument with the realization that they weren't just punched or molded out of a machine.
